Urban Redesign and Regeneration Studies
In urban regeneration studies, we apply a human-centered approach that combines urban revitalization with sustainability. Urban regeneration is an important field of application of environmental design principles, with a strong requirement for an interdisciplinary approach. The emphasis on the application of environmental design principles is directly related to the reduction of the urban heat island phenomenon, as well as to issues of thermal comfort and use of public space. The impact of the strategies we apply is examined using special simulation tools. We seek to implement sustainable urban transformation strategies, such as the creation of pedestrian-centric neighborhoods and the utilization of inactive open spaces. We focus on creating spaces that encourage social interaction and improve the quality of life of citizens. The goal of urban regeneration is to provide more active public space, ensure accessibility for all, so as to make our cities more humane and resilient.
