Architectural survey of the “Xenia” complex in Paliouri, Halkidiki
The Architectural Design Department of Consortis, with proven experience and expertise in the field of architectural serveys, utilizes advanced technologies to develop innovative approaches to the upgrading and reuse of building complexes. The architectural rendering of the “Xenia” hotel complex in Paliouri, Halkidiki, is part of a project concerning the reuse of existing facilities and the development of hotel units within an area of approximately 322 acres.
Approach
The "Xenia" hotel complex in Paliouri, constructed in 1962, is an important representative example of Aris Konstantinidis' modernist architecture. It operated until 1997. Since then, its abandonment has led to significant deterioration, damage caused by time, and vandalism, making a comprehensive technical survey essential prior to any reuse intervention.
The precise mapping and documentation of the existing situation, which is based on modern technological solutions and documented scientific expertise, was essential for the design and implementation of new uses, the preservation of the architectural identity and the protection of the cultural heritage of the complex.
To address the above challenges, a comprehensive architectural survey of the complex was required, specifically:
- Photogrammetric imaging / documentation with the production of orthophotos and photogrammetry of facades using drones and laser scanners.
- Surveying the volumes of all existing hospitality and communal buildings (restaurant building, reception building, staff building, linen storage building).
- Processing the data to produce detailed architectural drawings that accurately reflect the existing condition.
Benefits
The architectural survey of "Xenia" provides a series of significant outcomes:
- It ensures the documentation of the existing architecture and contributes to the preservation of the historical identity of the complex.
- It facilitates the proper design of new interventions.
- It provides a reliable basis for the preparation of studies, the issuance of permits and the assurance of quality during the renovation and reuse of buildings.
Consortis' contribution in providing the required services and studies is a decisive factor for the reuse project with respect for the character and architectural value of the complex.
